Afrique Noir / Africa Negra / Black Africa
Senegal 2011
What most called my attention in Senegal was how far mainly of senegalese women have to go to get water. What is our rolle in the world towards this issue?
Are we really aware of nature's power?
Tribe in pays Bassari
This tribe was fantastic, it was like live some days in Avatar.
I went to Senegal because since I first met Jean, he talks about this country, of course there is also my curiosity to know this new universe of rich culture, people and etc. Jean is doing a documentary about rythm, mainly percussion, it's called "Power of drums" his first producer was a french friend who lives in NY but now he is producing by himself.
Afrique Arabe / Arabian Africa
I help when I can, doing camera, I actually saw that I'm not bad holding a big camera and I'm enjoying quite a lot this experience with images, video, films. I have also learnt to edit in final cut, of course it is in a very basic way. To know more about the documentary and Jean's pathway: http://www.myspace.com/jeandumas
Location of photos: Desert close to Ouarzazate
A video is being edited about my experience in many remarkable and unforgetable places in Senegal.

"We do not need SUNglasses in Africa..."
Thanks to those beautiful-energegic kids, love you!!!
Children it's another issue in Africa but how amazing they are, smily kids passed every day in my "parcours", they are creative, love dancing and playing around, the energy they give to the world, it's unaccountable.

How come? Choque cultural
An experience to pretend I was islamic to get inside this fantastic place but I could not miss such a ritual in the second most beautiful "mosques" in the world, as the first is Meca.
I just love Marrocos, I would live there, actually I would live in many places as I find myself an adaptable person. Casablanca, it's an open city you can see women like the one above and you can see girls with very litle skirts drunk in the night clubs. I had the experience to dress up in a samba style and see some women covered watching me with such a scary face. Samba it's not my movement research as choreographer but as soon as I started being paid, wear make up, fake eyelashes, and high heels. Honestly, I had a lot of fun and lost my prejudice regarding the samba style. Of course it can become egregious but it can also be a good tool for contemporary dance, I'll formulate this better and I'll get into the point.
Sim, eu sambei...nao pude recusar "such a fun work"

When this samba thing started?
In 2008, in Rio de Janeiro, I participated for the first time in one parade at Sapucai with my cousin Bruna, Ines (my sister) Paulo (my brother) and Franz. I remember, me, Bruna and Ines took some magical pills to stand the huge costumes we were wearing, it was the first time and I also thought "The LAST" time I was participating in Carnival's parade but as you see below I did some other times, this time it was work, however in Rio I paid for the terrible costume, which squeezed me like an ant.
During summer 2010 in France it came as a work...
I can see that in the coming photo I was totally out of context, it was the first time I was in a "defile" in France but the second photo I feel more confident, also because I feel good thinking I am an animal, a happy one though, from a dramatic cow to a free bird, what an extreme!!! Ps: Those are all Andiara's costumes, a brazilian friend who organizes carnival in France and abroad...While my "carte de sejour" (residence and work permission) wasn't ready I did those works, which was fun!!
